Drilling fluid Solids control is a technique that use solids control equipment to separate the solids in the drilling fluids that are crushed by the drill bits and carried out of the well to the surface.

Drilling fluid Solids control system consist of five stages drilling fluid solids control equipment, including drilling fluids shale shaker, vacuum degasser, desanders, desilters and drilling fluids decanter centrifuge. Drilling fluid solids control equipment play a major role on the drilling rig as a filtration system to extract solids from the drilling fluid and return cleaner mud to the active drilling fluids system.

In drilling fluid solids control system, all drilling fluid solids control equipments are mounted on the top of the mud tank. Shale shaker is used as the first stage solids control equipment to separate the bigger solids with diameter above 75μm. Drilling mud desander is used as secondary solids control equipment to separate the bigger solids with diameter 45~74μm . Drilling mud desilter is used as third stage solids control equipment for 15~44μm.Drilling mud desander and desilter are combined as drilling fluids cleaner. Vacuum degasser is used to separate the air ,if air enters into the drilling fluids. Decanter centrifuge is used to separate suspended solids with diameter ≥2μm and to treat the drilling mud and fluids.
